The University Hospitals Sussex Foundation NHS Trust is delighted to be working in partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust to host a 1 WTE dedicated Teenage Cancer Trust Teenage & Young Adult Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist to support young people (16 -24 years old) diagnosed with cancer in Brighton. This is a very exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic and expert team and lead the way in improving provision of TYA cancer care through collaborative working and shared commitment to young people with Cancer.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside the TYA lead clinician & nurses, based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital / Princess Royal Hospital, to establish close links within cancer services. As a local champion for TYA cancer care, you will be required to work as part of the wider regional South Thames TYA Service team and the Principal Treatment Centre (Royal Marsden Hospital). The post holder will be required to work autonomously and exercise a high level of clinical expertise when identifying and caring for the specific needs of TYA patients and their carers. You will need excellent interpersonal skills, senior nursing experience, knowledge of TYA cancers and the ability to work sensitively and collaboratively with diverse teams. By working alongside the TYA team and Site-Specific Teams you will promote a cohesive approach to developing TYA care within the region, in line with national guidelines.
