Estates Building Officer

Band 7 – per week

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care Trust is looking for an enthusiastic Estates Building Officer at our Hospital in Aston-Under -Lyne. We are a forward-thinking organisation and looking for a like-minded candidate to continue the excellent work already being undertaken. As part of our Estates Services team, you will play a key part in the service and maintenance of buildings and infrastructure across the hospital as well as supporting the improvement of the Estate via minor works schemes.

You will play an active role in our Estates and Facilities Directorate, supporting other colleagues in providing safe quality environments across the estate.

Main duties of the job

Manages all building maintenance services and responsible for the day to day delivery of building maintenance.

 Highly developed Estate building knowledge and understanding to interpret complex professional and technical information.
Provide reasoned and technical advice on building fabric maintenance and property advice to the Head of Estates, Engineering and maintenance staff.
Prepares specifications, procures, project manager, commissions and evaluates schemes for repair and improvement of the Trust estate as allocated by the Head of Estates, using in-house or outsourced resources as necessary. Ensures that any allocated schemes are delivered to the specified quality and time standards.
Supports the Head of Estates and Capital Planning Manager in the delivery of the estates capital programme by providing information on the existing estate, agreeing programmes of enabling work, inputting to health and safety plans and supplementing design and project management resources when required.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities

    The post holder will be Accountable to the Head of Estates and is responsible for managing the maintenance services across the Trust

    Estate. The post holder is also responsible for the development of standardisation of practices and processes within their area of responsibility to

    support the delivery of modern Maintenance services meeting compliant standards within a customer care focused service delivery.

    The post-holder is responsible for the operational leadership and management of maintenance building team to maximise effectiveness,

    utilisation and functionality of staff resources, equipment and materials. This includes providing expert advice to clinical and corporate services on

    the provision of safe, high quality, cost effective services. The post holder will also take the lead on building services.

  • Be prepared to train and qualify in a minimum of 3 of the Authorised, Responsible or Test Person roles associated with Hospital Technical Memoranda (HTM’s) as listed below: Authorised Person Decontamination (HTM01), Authorised Person Medical Gases (HTM 02), Authorised Person Low Voltage (HTM06), Authorised Person High Voltage (HTM06), Heating and Ventilation Systems (HTM03), Legionella (HTM04) & L8
  • Experience working in the NHS or Healthcare Environment
  • Experience and use of AutoCAD software
  • IT Literate including word, excel, databases and reporting software
  • Experience of writing and implementing protocols/procedures
