Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Somerset, Wiltshire, Avon & Gloucestershire Cancer Alliance (SWAG) as the Business and Communications Officer. The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering improvements in the experience and outcomes for cancer across the Alliance.

The post holder will support the Alliance team ensuring that effective business processes (including personnel, budget and stakeholder management) are in place and will be responsible for developing and delivery of all aspects of the Alliance’s communications strategy; which will include the Alliance website and our social media presence, where appropriate.

This is a busy, varied role in which the post holder will work autonomously, exercising judgment and initiative, with excellent written and verbal skills.

A knowledge and confident ability to use technology to support hybrid meetings is required. This role is a mixture of office based and working from home.

The post holder will need to demonstrate a calm, professional, flexible approach to this busy role.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the role include

  • To establish the communication plans/strategy for the Alliance including managing the relationships with all relevant stakeholders

The SWAG Cancer Alliance is developing a work plan which prioritises delivery of the recommendations within the LTP (Long Term Plan) for cancer.
