Axcis are working with a secondary SEND provision in Darwen who are searching for a teaching assistant to join their team on an ongoing basis. This would be a full time role, between the hours of 8.30 and 3.30, working with secondary aged children with learning difficulties and autism. An element of personal care will be required while there can also be instances of challenging behaviour, though this is rare. This is general teaching assistant position so you will be required to support either small groups of students or work 1-1 with specific pupils depending on the requirements of the school on each day.The school is based in Skelmersdale and is accessible via public transport. The school is a secondary SEND school which caters for students aged 11 – 19 who have additional needs and can no longer remain in mainstream education. There is a potential for a permanent position for the right applicant. The school has fantastic facilities, such as sensory rooms, a forest school and large play areas for the children. There is a car park onsite for staff use.To be considered for this role, candidates must have prior experience working with learning difficulties or autism in some form, ideally with children. You must be prepared to provide an element of personal care. Prior experience working within a school will be looked upon favourably. This role would be well suited to someone coming from a care background due to the SEND needs of the pupils. The school may be prepared to see applicants with limited experience, provided they are have a willingness to learn and are proactive and caring. The candidate must be available for the hours stated above and must be willing to provide an enhanced DBS check or be prepared to get one, if you do not have one.INDJOBS
