Full-Time/ Fixed Term (Until 30 June 2023) Grade 7 (£38,592 – £42,155)

The School of Science and Engineering delivers research and teaching across Anatomy & Human Identification, Computing, Engineering (Biomedical, Civil, and Mechanical & Electronic), Forensic Sciences, Mathematics and Physics.

The School benefits from superb research infrastructure and substantial opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration through which we deliver impactful knowledge-transfer and translational activities with industries (local and global) and with social ecosystems, including the judiciary and, through assistive technology, people with disabilities and the elderly population.

We are seeking to appoint a fixed-term lecturer to develop and deliver teaching across undergraduate Mathematics programmes and, dependent on experience/expertise, our postgraduate taught programme.

All new appointees are expected to contribute to enhancing the student experience and to support cross-disciplinary learning and teaching initiatives, as well as knowledge-transfer, outreach and public-engagement activities, and general administrative duties. Furthermore, the appointee would be expected to contribute where required to School and University initiatives for the development of mathematical training for the wider student body.

Your priorities will include:

Carry out teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, including the development and delivery of blended teaching, contributing to curriculum design, and enhancement of the student learning experience.

Contribute to the School’s academic and pastoral support for students

Carry out the quality and academic standards processes and administration for the programmes to enhance

the student experience

Contribute to the Schools general teaching and administrative duties

Participate in the outreach and recruitment activities of the School

Who we’re looking for:

Already have or are soon to obtain a PhD in Mathematics (or a related subject)
Clear evidence of learning and teaching competence

Evidence or appreciation of use of innovative teaching methods

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to prioritise and balance competing demands
