TXM Recruit are currently recruiting for a shunter on a 6 month contract basis in Nottingham. This is with a train operating company. We are ideally looking for someone with previous shunting experience but we can also consider people who have worked in a safety critical environment, such as on a depot but not necessarily as a shunter. This could of been as a train cleaner, depot cleaner / maintenance. The importance is having awareness to safety critical working environments.
Role Overview:
Shunt and dispatch trains in a safe manner within the Depot. This is a safety critical role.
Hourly Rate: £12.25
Shift Pattern:
Permanent Nights, 4 out of 7 days
Average 39 hours per week, typical start/finish times – 21:00 – 06:00 or 21:00 – 04:00
Role Responsibilities:
Liaise with Train Managers, signallers and contractor representatives to ensure customer requirements are met regarding the shunting activity
Ensure safety measures are adhered to at all times
Supervise movement of all vehicles within the depot
Acknowledge receipt of and read all notices affecting your train, route knowledge or rules and instructions, maintaining competency of all personal publications
Ability to follow instructions as full training will be provided
Role Requirements:
Previous Railway experience within a safety critical environment is desirable
Engineering background within a hands on role
Ability to work across Night Shift
Previous shunting experience is desirable but not essential
