TXM Recruit are currently recruiting for a shunter on a 6 month contract basis in Nottingham. This is with a train operating company. We are ideally looking for someone with previous shunting experience but we can also consider people who have worked in a safety critical environment, such as on a depot but not necessarily as a shunter. This could of been as a train cleaner, depot cleaner / maintenance. The importance is having awareness to safety critical working environments.

Role Overview:
Shunt and dispatch trains in a safe manner within the Depot. This is a safety critical role.

Hourly Rate: £12.25

Shift Pattern:

  • Permanent Nights, 4 out of 7 days 
  • Average 39 hours per week, typical start/finish times – 21:00 – 06:00 or 21:00 – 04:00

    • Role Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with Train Managers, signallers and contractor representatives to ensure customer requirements are met regarding the shunting activity
  • Ensure safety measures are adhered to at all times
  • Supervise movement of all vehicles within the depot 
  • Acknowledge receipt of and read all notices affecting your train, route knowledge or rules and instructions, maintaining competency of all personal publications
  • Ability to follow instructions as full training will be provided

    • Role Requirements:

  • Previous Railway experience within a safety critical environment is desirable
  • Engineering background within a hands on role
  • Ability to work across Night Shift
  • Previous shunting experience is desirable but not essential
