Youth Worker

START DATE: ASAP

JOB TITLE / ROLE: Youth Worker

SECTOR: Education

LOCATION: West End

SALARY: 80 – 90 per day

We are exclusively working with an outstanding college based in West End, that is looking for Youth Workers to work within their specialist provision, supporting students that have been excluded from their mainstream education. This is a college with a real holistic and restorative focus.

It is a Youth Worker role that is ideal if you are looking for experience with supporting vulnerable children who have been subjected to severe trauma.

About the role:

If you have had previous experience working with vulnerable children and adults, or experience within a similar role, your skills could translate incredibly well into this Youth Worker position. Having an understanding of humanities, the cultural and political issues and values that will have an impact upon students who have social, emotional and mental health concerns would be of great value.

To work within a mental health setting, you need a huge amount of empathy, sincerity and emotional maturity. There will be safeguarding concerns and issues to deal with this role almost every day – it’s a case of understanding where the boys you are working with have come from.

This is a very challenging role and any experience working within a similar role would be of real interest. In this position, you could encounter safeguarding issues, where you will need to react accordingly.

Main responsibilities:

  • Raising the attainment of students with SEMH, EBD, Autism and associated learning/behavioural needs
  • Opportunity to meet & work with specialist SEN Teachers, Behaviour Specialists and Educational Psychologists
  • Holistic approach, classes of 10 with a 1:1 and small seminar approach
  • Full time (Monday to Friday)
  • Outstanding facilities and set up within the college
  • A focus on GSCE Maths and English to raise practical attainment – must have GCSEs in these subjects
