Digital Innovation and Technology Services (DITS)

The LETS team, based within DITS at the Colchester Campus, delivers day to day AV and IT support for University staff, teaching spaces, meeting areas, campus based external conferences, commercial events and major, high profile University events such as Graduation, Registration and Clearing.

The Colchester campus has over 200 rooms with AV and computers and more than 4,000 PCs, laptops, associated managed printers and mobile devices to support, deploy and repair. The post is based in the IT Services offices at the Colchester campus. Travel to other campuses at Southend and Loughton will be required on a regular basis.

Duties of the Role

You will act as the primary contact for escalated technical issues raised by the wider LETS team that needs your expertise to resolve. You will also handle incidents as well as more complex and technically challenging work and development that cannot be resolved by the wider LETS team. You will recommend changes to how we operate where you can see this is good for the Team, our customers and the University as a whole. During peak service periods, you will provide general back up support and especially so during our high profile and high importance events such as Graduation, welcome week and registration. You will be the lead for any problems that need to be worked on by third line support. The work is primarily based with desktops but you are encouraged to learn and work with colleagues to expand your knowledge and our AV service.

Qualifications and Skills required

We are looking for a dynamic individual who will hold a degree in IT discipline, or have relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading a team and experience of maintaining, replacing and creating advanced IT installations in a large installation base.
