We are seeking a talented journalist to join our team at The Northern Daily Leader covering the news for the region. This is a full-time permanent position based in Tamworth.

The successful applicant for this role should be an energetic and capable multi-platform storyteller with proven skills in writing, research and analysis, a strong work ethic and a curiosity about people and their stories. An ability to understand and present data is highly desirable.

Across print and digital, our audiences expect us to keep them informed, entertained and connected with breaking news, insightful analysis and thoughtful commentary.

The successful applicant will:

  • provide examples of excellence in writing balanced, accurate reports to a high standard of spelling, grammar and style;
  • have proven skills in writing for online and social media audiences and tight deadlines;
  • be able to show initiative in generating story ideas while also working to direction and in collaboration with the editorial team as required;
