Robert Half are pleased to be recruiting an exciting opportunity to join the team of our client based in Banbury as a Head of Finance. The Head of Finance will receive a salary of up to £80,000 along with other attractive benefits including a hybrid remote working system! This organisation is an SME and the role would suit an individual who enjoys working in an SME environment where they have commercial input with senior management of the company.

The primary responsibilities of the Head of Finance include –

  • Manage the Company’s Financial Accounting and Reporting processes, including management reporting, audit and statutory accounts and payroll ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the cashflow forecasting and day to day position, making sure that currency requirements are well understood and provided for and managing the relationship with our bank.
  • Ensure that the business processes and decisions are based on sound financial analysis and commercial management intelligence by providing the commercial team with the necessary support and challenge and ensuring the integrity of Company data.
  • Manage the Board reporting process, supporting the CEO to ensure on going effective relations and full confidence amongst the business owners and investors.
  • Provide the Finance team with the leadership and direction they need to deliver their objectives and contribute to the Company’s success.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Senior Leadership to ensure that the Company has a clear strategy, that is well understood across the Company, with strong leadership from the SLT to support and enable its effective implementation and delivery.
  • Ensure that the Company has in place an effective and robust risk management process, so that all risks are clearly identified and well understood, and that mitigating actions are taken as necessary in order to protect the business.
  • Manage the Company’s assets, ensuring full compliance with all legislative requirements and identifying how the Company can maximise returns from its assets.
  • Take responsibility for coordinating the annual budget process including board approval and delivery, including re-forecasting as necessary.
  • Key experience and attributes of the Head of Finance include –

  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles, best practices and legislation
  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified or finalist
  • Strong financial planning skills
  • Organisational leadership and line management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills, effective at building business relationships at all levels
  • Strong IT skills including proficiency in accounting software systems
  • Commercially astute with strong analytical skills
  • Strategic problem solver and strong attention to detail
  • A good understanding of GDPR and data governance processes
