Job Title: Quality Controller

Location: Ashford, Kent

Salary: £11.40 per Hour

Hours: 4 out of 7 days a week working 6am till 7pm with 1 hour unpaid break (rotas will be given at the beginning of the year for the whole year working on a 6-week rotating shift pattern). This shift pattern will include working Saturday and Sunday every other weekend.

  • Key responsibilities within your new role would be to:

  • Quality Inspections to assess the quality of the finished product and raw material on the production lines against relevant customer specifications. This includes weight checks, packaging checks and overall quality. Liaising and working with production members regarding fruit quality and line efficiencies is vital.
  • On-line Label Checks to ensure that all labels assigned to you have the correct information printed. Checks include but are not limited to, date codes, barcodes, and product.
  • Shelf-life Analysis
  • The control and monitoring of shelf-life samples from date of production until end of life, communicating any issues to managers.
  • Equipment Control
  • Maintaining, calibrating and control all equipment. This includes scales, checkweighers, plasters and QC workstations, while following all policies and procedures
  • To follow all company policies and procedures and enforce them when necessary.
  • Deputising as/when needed as you may be required to cover for Warehouse QC team members during periods of absence as well as supporting the Production Lines during quiet periods.

  • There will be times during production runs when product may not meet customer specifications (this could be due to quality, labelling of packaging), you will need to think fast and take the correct action in ensuring this product is not released from the packhouse, working closely with production staff and your managers to ensure that the correct action is taken.
  • Communication
  • Effective communication is essential regarding quality/packaging issues and the handling of fruit.
