Following changes to our structure we now have an exciting opportunity for someone with significant experience of complex scheme delivery to join us as a Senior Project Manager. This opportunity is based in our West Region covering, Swindon, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Bristol and the wider West of England area, Somerset, Devon and Dorset and working from our Bristol office. The role will include a mix of on-site visits, home and office based working.

What you’ll be doing

Working with the Head of Project Management you will be responsible for the delivery of complex schemes across the region including Section , Partnership, Package Deal and Land led schemes. As a region we have a healthy pipeline with delivery of in excess of 2, homes forecast over the next 3 years. We have an exciting and varied programme including:

  • The Harry Stoke Joint Venture with Crest
  • Cleve Park where we are delivering 87 Open Market Sale Homes in addition to the Section homes
  • Bath Road and Paynes Shipyard in Bristol where we will be delivering in excess of apartments on each site
  • Clifton Down Shopping Centre where we are looking at options for redevelopment of the site
  • Taveners, Exeter – a land led scheme where we are looking to develop a range of homes from the Sovereign standard house type range
  • As a Senior Project Manager in the team you will take the lead on delivering the more complex projects, in addition you will use your knowledge to mentor, coach and develop other Project Management colleagues, ensuring that they are able to grow in their roles to effectively manage increasingly complex schemes.

    Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of development projects ensuring they are delivered on time and budget, ensuring quality and safety in line with Sovereign policies. 
  • Manage financial appraisals and cashflows for schemes, keeping relevant Management Information up to date
  • Prepare reports for committee seeking approval as required
  • Selecting and appointing Consultants and managing project teams to deliver successful developments
  • Working with stakeholder to shape schemes to meet the organisation aspirations 
  • Mentor, coach and develop other Project Management team members to aid their understanding of ever more complex schemes
  • What we need from you

    You’ll need to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role from the housing development or property / construction sectors.

    You’ll have:

  • A track record of delivering a range of complex development schemes on site
  • Experience of managing multi disciplinary project teams to deliver high quality homes within programme and budget
  • Experience of leading on design and planning on land led schemes to create great homes and places
  • A sound understanding of various Contract types
  • The sound understanding of the planning process
  • Good technical knowledge
  • A passion for delivering homes that meet the aspirations of our Homes and Place Strategy
  • The ability to communicate and negotiate effectively both with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring longevity in partnerships
  • Experience of having a strong network of key development contacts and the ability to nurture and expand relationships
  • A good understanding of the social housing sector and an appreciation of the challenges faced in the delivery of affordable housing
  • Experience of mentoring more junior team members
  • There will be a requirement to travel from time to time in this role so you should have a full UK licence and access to your own transport.
