The Renal Department includes 2 main wards and 4 satellite dialysis units and one within the Lister Hospital estates and are the regional hub for the surrounding areas.

The department is multi-disciplinary and involves every aspect of a patient’s journey with a clearly defined management and nursing structure.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the operational management of the psychological, dietetic and social work service for the department of renal medicine, a regional service that sits within the unplanned division

Provide visible, inclusive and approachable leadership for the individual specialist teams (psychological, dietetic and social work), patients and families in the renal service.

You will inspire and motivate others, enabling the individual specialist teams to have the skills, authority, and autonomy they need to continuously improve the services, patient safety and experience.

Monitor activity related to their service area, ensuring that the key performance indicators, including improving quality and experience of care, increasing productivity and efficiency in line with best practice standards are met

    Qualifications/Training

    Essential criteria

  • Relevant clinical qualification to first degree level or equivalent
  • Post graduate qualification at masters level, or evidence of equivalent experience as expert practitioner relevant to post
  • Current HCPC registration or equivalent appropriate professional body
  • Management training and development/qualification
  • Desirable criteria

  • Completion of leadership training and development
  • Previous Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Can demonstrate significant experience within clinical/professional practice, where you will have worked at a highly specialist level in the areas to be led (renal), and/or have demonstrable transferable skills
  • Evidence of continuous professional and managerial development
  • Can demonstrate experience of service development and/or research that has led to measurable service and/or quality outcomes
  • Can demonstrate experience of developing and implementing policies, procedure and/or clinical practice guidelines
  • Can demonstrate evidence of managing a team
  • Experience of resource management including finance and budget
  • Can demonstrate experience of evaluating, managing and delivering on key performance indicators to ensure productivity, efficiency, and a positive patient experience in line with best practice standards and financial targets
  • Can demonstrate knowledge and experience of workforce planning, design and service review that leads to measurable service improvements/quality
