Role: Finance Manager

Location: Birmingham (SCC operate a hybrid working policy giving you flexible working options)

Due to our continued growth and further development of our finance function, we are looking to recruit a new colleague into our highly collaborative and talented finance team, who relishes leading change, continuous improvement and who is focused on people development and creating a best-in-class finance function.

Reporting to the Director of Financial Control, you will be responsible for leading a team of management accountants in producing and presenting timely and accurate financial information for the SCC plc UK. 

You will support the Commercial Finance and Financial Planning & Analysis teams in providing Business Unit heads and the UK Executive team with management accounts and ad hoc financial analysis to aid decision making and enhance profitability.

This role involves leading continuous improvement activity throughout the finance function ensuring; effective understanding of our processes, implementation of process and system improvements and management of change to ensure that we continually evolve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As the head of the team of management accountants you will be responsible for reporting financial performance, production of the monthly management accounts & ensuring timely review of the P&Ls with the business unit heads
  • Provide commentary and insight into all aspects of the monthly trading performance to the SCC leadership team
  • Support the budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Enhance profitability by supporting the leadership team with financial analysis; leading to revenue enhancement and/or efficiency / cost reduction initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with senior management in relation to the in-month and yearly performance
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations, challenging the preparers and authorising these monthly, highlighting risks as appropriate
  • Identify developments that can streamline processes to improve efficiency

Key skills/experiences:

  • Qualified Management Accountant, with proven post-qualification experience reporting across multiple/complex business unit structures
  • Solid experience in managing several direct reports
  • Experience in bringing together relevant data from several different systems to articulate performance trends
  • Strong business acumen/commercial awareness
  • Highly proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and experience of Cognos/TM1 applications would be helpful, not essential
  • Excellent collaboration & reporting skills, with experience in communicating and influencing at Director level
  • Comfortable with a ‘hands-on’ approach to resolving issues and contributing to the output from the team
  • Ability to explain complex financial and accounting treatments cross-functionally within the business
