Protocol Education are actively recruiting for entry level teaching assistants from an array of creative backgrounds such as music, art or acting who are keen to apply their creative skills working with children with special educational needs in secondary schools across Tower Hamlets.
As a teaching assistant you will be required to think creatively and apply your skills to sensory sessions, develop students hand eye coordination, speech & language skills, social/communication skills, speech and language skills, independence and cognitive processes. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work within a variety of different subjects such as cooking, art & music.
The role would be suitable for those with creative backgrounds who are keen to use their transferable skills in a new setting. You may be able to engage children with the use of art and music or support emotional literacy through your previous drama training. You will be expected to accompany and support children in all their lessons, including English and Maths. You will provide pastoral support and work under the direction of the classroom teacher. Good level of numeracy and literacy is required, but in depth subject knowledge is not essential
The successful candidate will:
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Have a calm and consistent approach and understand how to respond to challenging behaviours
- Hold a university degree
- Be able to work Monday-Friday (term time)
- Have experience or a keen interest in working with children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
