Vetro Education are seeking to recruit experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to work in SEN provisions in Cardiff. The schools support learners with ASD, PDA, Global Delay Disorder and challenging behaviour and Vetro Education are looking for SEN Teaching Assistants in or around Cardiff who are experienced in any of these fields.

  • Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Pay: £69.20 per day minimum
  • Location: Cardiff
  • Hours: Ad Hoc, Short Term and Long Term – Monday to Friday 830am – 330pm

The role: What you’ll be doing as a SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Supporting and supervising learners with ASD, PDA, Global delay Disorder or Challenging Behaviour
  • Assisting learners at the start of the school day and when leaving at the end of the day
  • Assisting staff members in preparing the classroom for a lesson
  • Working with learners in small groups and or working 1:1 with children with additional needs
  • Support the class teacher in the delivery of the lessons
  • Assist learners at break time with their lunch
  • Engage learners with both classroom and out of classroom activities
  • Work in accordance to the school’s behaviour management policies

The candidate: What you’ll need to be successful as a SEN Teaching Assistant

  • At least 3 months experience of working with children in schools, nurseries or childcare settings – experience within an SEN setting would be beneficial
  • Registration with the EWC (the Education Workforce Council) – we can help you with this
  • References covering the last two years (no gaps)
  • Hold a current Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one
  • The right to work in the UK
