The HR Business Partner role is based within our Mission Systems business area.

As a HR Business Partner you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The HR team creates the right conditions for the business to thrive. Day to day, you’ll be supporting the development of the people agenda, championing employee engagement initiatives, and acting as an advocate for your business area. You’ll develop and implement the associated people plan, initiatives and processes for your business area, to build a healthy, high-performing organisation. You’ll be building strong and influential relationships with key stakeholders, including trade union and employee representatives and colleagues across the sector, to deliver our strategic objectives. You’ll Coach managers to improve their impact as leaders, and enabling them to resolve complex employee cases, seeking legal advice where required. As well as analysing data, building insight and understanding of your business area, making recommendations and implementing associated changes to improve processes and enhance performance.

We offer flexible working to give people more options to better integrate their work and personal life, whilst ensuring that business needs are met. This role provides hybrid working arrangements with typically 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home.

Essential experience

  • Excellent listening and communication skills, with the ability to relate to, influence and coach Directors and Senior Leaders across the organisation.
  • A self-starter, who is performance and delivery driven – with a desire to make significant contribution/impact. Is able to work independently, and as an active, collaborative team member.
  • A critical thinker – who can understand complex issues (balancing the detail and the big picture), using insight/data (evidence) and their judgement to make good decisions and have a positive impact.
  • An inclusive leader who has a passion for creating a great people experience and enabling a diverse and high performing culture. Someone who will delegate and hold people accountable appropriately, as well as to support, guide and coach.
  • A catalyst, who has experienced organisation growth/transformation and is happy to challenge the status quo, be resilient when the going gets tough, and can take people with them to achieve an outcome.
