Shift pattern: Mon-Fri 39.5hrs per week (14:00-22:00)

  • To plan, co-ordinate, supervise and report upon the work activities of a team;
  • providing effective communication, leadership, motivation, training & development.
  • Management of the financial budget within area of responsibility, the ability to report back any variances with evidence to validate this.
  • To build strong customer relationships, at the appropriate level to ensure that their department works effectively, understanding their impact on other shifts and departments to optimise total operational effectiveness.
  • To actively seek out information from functional departments, such as Finance and HR, to ensure their area is well run.
  • This role requires a strong Continuous Improvement approach.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience of team management (essential)
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, motivation and planning skills (essential)
  • Excellent communicator (verbal & written) (essential)
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements (essential)
  • Computer literate (essential)
  • Excellent organisational skills (desirable)
  • Good analytical and numerical skills (desirable)
  • Knowledge of customs requirements (desirable)
  • Knowledge of working time legislation (desirable)
  • Working understanding of GDP (desirable)
  • Knowledge of basic employment law (desirable)

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to cover for manager from time to time.
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns
  • Any 5/7 pattern as required – Primarily Mon-Fri with some weekend working where required.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment
  • Flexibility to move across campus – All sites within 1 mile
  • Any other duties deemed reasonable for the appropriate level
