We have a great opportunity to join the education team as a Painting and Decorating Trainer on a full time (37 hours), permanent basis.

You will work with passion, care and commitment to create the foundations for change.

For almost 30 years they have been helping men, women and children of all ages and abilities, in prison settings across England and Wales, to take new directions.

We are supporting and working with a company who are looking for an experienced and dynamic Painting and Decorating Trainer to lead in delivering quality lessons to their learners. You will be responsible for helping their students to develop their creative skills and gain accredited qualifications. As such you will have full autonomy for the course which will include registering learners with their Awarding Body NCFE, preparing for and liaising with the IQA and EQA and claiming certificates. In addition to this, you will also contribute to their Quality cycle by ensuring you deliver outstanding lessons and meet all targets set.

As a Trainer you will be responsible for teaching, developing and delivering a high quality curriculum to their learners. This will allow our learners to develop skills and knowledge they need to have a better and brighter future.

The role will entail delivering up to Level 2 in City and Guilds Diploma in Painting and Decorating, to a diverse range of learners who age 21 and over. We have a purpose built workshop including work booths, tools and equipment.

To be successful in the role of Painting and Decorating Trainer, you’ll need to:

  • Plan, organise and deliver a vocational competency based curriculum up to Level 3 using awarding body standards / criteria.
  • Under direction of Manager/Team Leader contribute to Schemes of Work and develop lesson plans to ensure compliance with curriculum best practice and quality targets
  • Contribute to Individual Learning Plans and the processes for additional learner support
  • Ensure the safeguarding of learners
  • Work collaboratively with Functional skills tutors/Learning Support Practitioners to support literacy, language and numeracy skills within the programme.
  • Ensure that learner records are accurate and maintained in line with data protection and TMC policies.
  • Compliance with TMC & stakeholder policies and procedures.
  • Timely and accurate completion and submission on funding and compliance activity ( learner enrolment)
  • Participate in continual professional development activities to ensure skills and qualifications are in line with sector best practice and third party requirements.
  • Signposting learners to other relevant agencies
  • Contribute to the required awarding body Quality Assurance arrangements IQA and moderation as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and prison security requirements.
  • Contributing to third party reporting procedures.
  • Qualifications

    Essential

    Level 1 (minimum entry level)

  • Have at least 2 years’ experience in the relevant vocational area
  • Willing to gain PTLLS within 6 months
  • Commitment to gain a subject specific qualification to allow them to train to Level 3, within 2 years
  • Commitment to gain an assessor award required by relevant Awarding Bodies, within one year
  • Hold at least a Level 1 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy or be willing to commit to gaining the qualification(s) within 1 year
  • Gain, hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Hold a qualification to allow the delivery of accreditation in the relevant vocational area to Level 3
  • Desirable

    Level 2 (minimum for progression to Level 2 salary)

  • Hold an Assessor award required by Awarding Bodies, if relevant
  • Hold PTLLS qualification
  • To hold or commit to gain an Internal Verifier award within 1 year (dependent upon course accreditation requirements)
  • Hold at least a Level 1 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy or be willing to commit to gaining the qualification(s) within 1 year
  • Gain/hold and maintain a clean, enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
