My client is looking for a Senior Health & Safety Officer covering three of their campuses in Glasgow. Your role will be to ensure that statutory and legal compliance is adhered to, health and safety audits and inspections are carried out in line with the health and safety policy, deliver the provision of health and safety training to staff and engender a culture of health and safety.

Hours of work are 8.45am to 4:45pm Monday – Friday

Your Main Duties will include:

* Manage, coach and co-ordinate the work of the Health and Safety Officer

*Work with key staff to ensure all staff understand their roles and responsibilities in respect of Health and Safety

*Lead inspections and audits to ensure health and safety procedures are being adhered to

*Prepare, co-ordinate and deliver health and safety training and briefings for staff on key health and safety topics

*Review health and safety documentation, such as risk assessments, COSHH assessments and trip control documentation

*Maintain all required health and safety recording systems, monitoring and reporting on trends in incidents, accidents and ill health and prepare measurement statistics

*Co-ordinate and respond to health and safety calls received, including accidents and incident investigations – advise and implement appropriate follow up action including HSE reporting if necessary

*Oversee risk assessments carried out by Health and Safety Officer for higher risk activities

*Advise and undertake health and safety audits and inspections on high-risk workplaces

Applicants should have:

*Health and Safety Management Qualification

*First Aid Qualification

*NEBOSH/CMIOSH/COSHH

*Detailed knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation and issues.

*An understanding of the range of duties on employers arising from Civil and Statutory Law.

*Experience of undertaking Health and Safety Inspections.

*Experience of Fire Safety Management

*Ability to prepare and present accurate management information reports.

*Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.

*Good observation skills and an ability to comprehend difficult and complex situations.

*Ability to work as part of a team and to develop and sustain good working relationships both internally and externally

*Ability to use own initiative to solve practical problems without supervision.

*Regular travel between three Glasgow sites will be required.

*Occasional attendance at meetings in the evening may be required.

*Ability to travel to work placement sites.
