An excellent opportunity has arisen for a land charges officer to join our team in Didcot.

The Official Local Land Charges search plays an essential role in conveyancing and the house purchasing process. Capita 5 Council Partnership is contracted to provide the delivery of Local Changes search requests service for 5 Local Authorities spread across a wide geographical area. Based on a centrally located office and working as part of a dynamic established team, your role will ensure accurate information is revealed to potential purchasers of property or land. You will play an activate role in the delivery of this service to all 5 Local Authorities within the Partnership.

A Local Land Charges Officer is responsible for obtaining and collating the all the relevant data and in the form of an Official Local Land Charges Search. Capita’s 5 Council Partnership Local Land Charges team is contracted to provide the delivery of Local Land Charges service for 5 Local Councils spread across a wide geographical area of the country. Based from the office and working as part of a dynamic established team, your role will ensure accurate delivery of the Official Local Land Charges search results and maintenance of the Local Land Charges register for each of the 5 Councils. The search information is sourced via a variety of computerised applications including computerised mapping applications. The role also requires the ability to understand complexed legal documentation in order to process both search requests and add charges to the register. What you’ll be doing:

  • To process Local Authority Official Search requests ensuring both PIs and KPIs are achieved.
  • Maintain the Local Land Charges Register ensuring compliance to statutory obligations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all customers and help build good relationships by providing an efficient and professional service.
  • Monitor and report performance accurately on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Follow set processes and procedures in line with the agreed policy for each individual Local Authority within the Partnership.
  • Develop breadth and depth of knowledge of Local Land Charges legislation and adhere to the statutory requirements.
  • Ability to approach work in an organised and methodical manner.
  • Ability to use complex computerised systems accompanied by excellent keyboard skills. 
  • What we are looking for:

    Person Specification :

  • GCSE in Maths and English
  • Excellent knowledge of ICT including Excel, Word and Office
  • Work towards and maintain an appropriate level of competence in the procedures operated by the Local Land Charges department
  • Demonstrate excellent communications skills both verbal and written
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of personal conduct, honesty, integrity that inspires trust and confidence 
  • Contribute to and celebrate the success of the whole team
  • Previous relevant theoretical or organisational knowledge of systems, procedures and policies with a solid understanding of the importance of adhering set processes
