SCHOOL STAFF INSTRUCTOR (SSI) / PASTORAL OFFICER

ACADEMY: Ormiston Horizon Academy, Turnhurst Road, Stoke on Trent ST6 6JZ

SALARY: Level 5 (£23,953 to £26,927)

HOURS: 37 hours per week; full year

Purpose of role

School Staff Instructor – will act as the main point of contact (during specific allocated time periods) for the cadets within school. During this time and in consultation with the Contingent Commander, they will provide logistical and organisational support for the unit by assisting in the preparation of an ongoing training programme and the provision of exercises and camps throughout the year. Candidates will need to have previous military experience.

Pastoral Officer – provide support and guidance to young people and those engaged with them, by removing barriers to learning in order to promote effective participation, enhance individual learning, raise aspirations and achieve their potential.

Variation Clause

This job description will be reviewed and updated periodically in order to ensure that it relates to the job performed, or to incorporate any proposed changes. This procedure will be conducted by the Principal/Manager in consultation with the postholder. In these circumstances it will be the aim to reach agreement on reasonable changes, but if agreement is not possible management reserves the right to make changes to the job description following consultation.

Fluency in English

The post is covered by Part 7 of the immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.
