Adecco are currently recruiting on behalf of North Wales Police for a Firearms Enquiry Officer.
The Purpose of this role is to assist the Firearms Licensing Administration Team with the processing of applications for the firearms/ shotgun certificates and any other administration process as and when required.
Salary: £12.74 per hour
Hours: 37 hours, Monday-Friday
Duration: January- December
Location: Home based, however, travelling around the Main Western hubs of the force, i.e Caernarfon/ Llangefni is required

Duties will include:
To carry out detailed enquiries across the force area to assess the suitability of persons applying for grant, renewal or variation of firearms, shotgun, and dealer certificates of registration.
To interview applicants and referees giving advice and guidance on firearms and explosive legislation. Inspect security arrangements in accordance with National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC) Home Office and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) guidance.
Prepare detailed reports for Firearms Manager and flag any concerns or offences disclosed when undertaking enquiries and attend court if necessary.
Carry out periodic inspections at Registered Firearms Dealers, checking the register, carry out a stock checks, inspecting security and report accordingly.
To assess the suitability of land with regard to the calibre of weapon from a public safety aspect and report accordingly.
Verify Home Office Approved Club membership, regularity of attendance and suitability for the weapon proposed where necessary.
MINIMUM CRITERIA FOR THE ROLE:
The role requires applicants who can demonstrate (with evidence) skills in the following areas:
Possess a full UK driving licence to drive police vehicles.
Have a detailed working knowledge of firearms legislation and home office guidance (firearms, knowing their capabilities and their uses).
Have a good standard of communication skills and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
The Use of Information Technology to an intermediate level that includes a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Wiling to be in confined spaces and access rural environments.
Be willing to handle firearms, component parts and ammunition.
