About the role
In this role you will be part of the dedicated Maintenance and Outage team, which is based at the Heysham Power Stations, but will support work across the UKs Nuclear Power Station fleet in the UK. You will report to the Site General Manager anField Supervisors as your reporting line. The team you will work within will be both diverse and inclusive (Client and other suppliers) to maintain the safe operational status of these important nuclear facilities by carrying out routine maintenance of plant, carrying out routine testing of plant, complete Refurbishment of plant, complete Modification to plant and Outage support activities. This role has no direct reports.

Strong communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focussed tempered with a team-centred approach.
As our work can take us across the UK, flexibility to work across the UK for temporary and short periods is preferred, however we seek team members for both base location and flexible working. Our client has home offices across the UK and is also flexible to consider candidates from across the UK. 


  • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
  • Safety critical understanding or having worked within a structured organisation
  • Demonstrates high engineering and health and safety standards
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification within one of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, C&I, Civil, Construction & Commissioning 
  • Completion of Apprenticeship in appropriate technical discipline acceptable – Min four years’ experience.
  • Proven experience as Technician (or relevant role)
  • Excellent knowledge of plant, machinery, systems, and components
  • Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read Work Order Cards, RAMS, instructions, blueprints, schematic diagrams, general arrangements, building layout / containment drawings, knowledge of assigned (example HVAC) systems, similar systems, or equivalent systems
  • Very good communication skills
  • A problem-solving ability
  • Good physical strength and stamina as daily on plant working required
  • Seek commitment from key stakeholders
  • Manage uncertainty and conflict
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic awareness of CAD
  • Five plus years in a Technical role preferred
  • EDF site/station experience is preferred
  • Nuclear environment experience is preferred
  • Preferred qualifications (training can be provided): SMSTS – Site Management Safety Training Scheme, CDM Qualification – in-house training and/or experience based, IOSH (Managing Safety – 5 day) Qualification, NEBOSH (General Certificate) qualification, CSCS – Construction Skills Certification Scheme
