We currently have a 12 month fixed term vacancy in our clinical adult mental health team for a Band 7 Clinical Pharmacist based at the Whiteleaf Centre in Aylesbury. 

Main duties of the job

We are a small and highly respected team that works closely with patients and multi-disciplinary professionals. 

As a specialist mental health pharmacist, you will:

  • Be responsible for the development of excellent clinical relationships with patients, carers and healthcare professionals, and supporting them with any medication issues that they might have.
  • Directly support in person, our patients, prescribers, and other healthcare professionals via attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings, carrying out medication reviews, taking part in discharge planning and ensuring the correct application of national and local guidance for therapies involving medicines
  • Working for our organisation

    If applicable the post holder will be encouraged, and supported, to attain a post-graduate qualification in psychiatric pharmacy and membership of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy.

    Part time working and secondment opportunities may be considered.

    The Oxford Health Pharmacy & Medicines Management service employs approximately 80 staff, predominantly clinical pharmacists, and technicians, supported by dispensary and administrative staff.

    Our Medicines Management Service is highly respected, and our staff are considered integrated members of the patient-focused multi-disciplinary teams in this Trust.

    Clinical pharmacists and medicines management technicians are based on clinical sites, with supply and support functions at hubs in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The department provides services to our mental health in-patient and outpatient teams, including Forensic services, Learning disability services as well as community hospitals.

  • Qualified Pharmacist
  • Desirable criteria

  • PG Certificate in Psychiatric Therapeutics.
  • Knowledge

  • Competence in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e. spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software).
  • Ability to convey complex, sensitive information to other Healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Ability to manipulate and analyse electronic data.
