The Assistant Service Manager is a full-time position reporting to the Deputy Cancer Services Manager. The post-holder will be responsible for the operational management of services within their area. The Assistant Service Manager will work autonomously to support the delivery of local and national cancer waiting times and quality standards through workforce management, budget management, problem solving and scheduling of allocated work tasks within the team they directly line manage.

Main duties of the job

To support Cancer Services in the delivery of Cancer Waiting Times. This will involve delivery of a range of key standards and ensuring the provision of high quality administration services to support the operational management of services. The role will require the post holder to prioritise conflicting work demands and communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary teams, as well as internal and external departments, to deliver the highest quality of care for our patients.

This post will include management of the MDT Coordinators, Senior Support Officers and Support Officers to ensure administration functions, tracking of patient pathways, escalation and day to day monitoring systems are in place to ensure an efficient and timely action on all functions. The services will be managed in accordance with agreed objectives, targets, quality standards and resource constraints
