The Job

Our Client is looking for an experienced Software Developer who is familiar working and developing for Android devices, to join an established team working on this exciting programme for our customer. Initially a 12 month contract, we anticipate further evolution and opportunities will arise to further mature our solutions and enhance the functionality developed.

Candidates should be able to work jointly as a team or proactively and independently as required, to produce baselines and releases for the user community.

On occasion there may be the need to travel to support our users or facilitate hands on training exercises.

Candidates should have experience of the following languages,

– Ideally Kotlin, although Java will be considered;

– Python;

– JavaScript, CSS;

Additionally candidates should be familiar working with,

– Android framework, component lifecycles and architectures;

– Familiarisation of Networking within Linux and Windows environments;

– Virtualisation or Containerisation;

– Some knowledge of databases or ideally SQLite;

– Linux setup and configurations;

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of Systems engineering beyond software development is desirable but not essential, as long as the candidate is willing to learn

    • Additional:

  • Site based role: The Android Software Developer role would require being on site for the majority of the week, the development is for bespoke hardware for which there is no emulator
  • Security requirements: SC

    • You will need to obtain a Criminal Record Check and you must currently hold or be eligible and willing to obtain SC. In addition, this role involves direct access to ITAR Material, therefore we can only consider UK Nationals for this position.     The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.
