Junior Sister – Outpatients

Location – SK9 – Cheshire

This role is a 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday

Salary up to £45,000

Monday to Friday – no nights!

About the Role

The Sister/Charge Nurse will be leading the clinical management of a defined ward or department to include support and mentor-ship of junior staff, acting as a clinical expert and role model. Outpatient/Surgical experience is preferred but not a necessity so please feel free to enquire for more information.

  • Duties & Responsibilities of a Junior Sister:

  • Demonstrates competent clinical practice at all times, is accountable for own actions and acts as a role model
  • Ensures that they and others can appropriately assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care they provide
  • Ensures that they and others respect the principles of patient privacy, dignity, autonomy and confidentiality
  • Provides patients, families and carers with expert, unbiased information regarding the causes, care and management of their condition
  • Provide specialist nursing advice to support and facilitate high quality individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers, without supervision, in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Prioritises own and others workload and directs staff accordingly
  • Deputises for the nurse manager, providing management and leadership in his or her absence
  • Promotes team working to maximise effectiveness of service provision
  • Participates in the recruitment selection, and orientation of staff to promote retention
  • Skills & Experience required by a Junior Sister:

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Recognized teaching, assessing, mentoring qualification
  • Previous contemporaneous experience within the neuro rehabilitation specialty with significant experience in the inpatient setting
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Diploma or degree level study (or equivalent)
  • Evidence of management experience / training
