The role

The University of Bristol has an exciting new opportunity for a Hackspace Specialist Technician in the Faculty of Engineering. Designed alongside the student body, the Hackspace provides access for users to develop concepts, manufacture prototypes and build new skills. The role focuses on the delivery of excellent technical support for established and emerging rapid prototyping technologies and techniques. Paramount to the role, the Hackspace aims to create an inclusive, collaborative culture of opportunities and experimentation all housed in a safe space to test new ideas and make mistakes.

What will you be doing?

The role holder will oversee the labs health and safety, the ongoing maintenance and operational development. Alongside servicing and programming of equipment, the successful candidate will also be responsible for coordinating new opportunities and hosting events. This supporting role is aimed at enhancing the academic learning experience and to provide facilities that enable practical aspects of project work and extracurricular activities.

The post allows for professional development through training schemes in line with the Technician Commitment.
