Financial Controller – Renewable Energy

Salary £80,000-£90,000pa + Bonus + LTIP

Our client is a renewable energy organisation that is undergoing rapid growth. It aims to help facilitate the energy transition demands of the UK and EU by developing and investing into large-scale solar and battery storage projects.

The team comprises individuals with a proven track record in both infrastructure investment and the renewables spheres. As the team expands, the company is seeking to appoint a Financial Controller who loves working in a rapidly growing, dynamic and flexible organisation. The role will report to the CFO and will be based in the company’s London office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of the annual statutory financial statements for each group company.
  • Focal point for external audit of group companies
  • Timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts including commentary on any variations to budget and forecast.
  • Support the development of a monthly insightful financial reporting pack for the senior leadership and Board.
  • Act as a business partner to the development and technical teams
  • Update the weekly treasury forecast and preparation of a monthly treasury report for the leadership team.
  • Prepare the annual budget and periodic reforecast providing commentary on variations to budget.
  • Manage outsourced bookkeeping relationship, ensuring that monthly reporting cycle is operating effectively balance sheet is reconciled and relationship operating effectively.
  • Manage the online banking platform and roll out of the treasury management system
  • Review statutory submissions (e.g., VAT) prepared by outsourced bookkeeper ahead of submission in line with monthly timetable.
  • Support the roll out of a fit for purpose robust financial control environment, providing input into financial controls, processes and procedures.
  • Manage the company time writing system and processing any intercompany recharges arising.
  • Provide technical accounting input as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Self-start attitude with the ability to work in a dynamic and growing organisation
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Degree educated or equivalent relevant experience
  • Ideally experience working in the renewables sector: solar, battery storage, wind
  • Proficient with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
