Specialist Nursing Service Manager – Band 8a

Permanent, full time role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Nurse Manager to oversee our Out of Hospital Specialist Nursing teams. This portfolio includes our Wound Care pathway, Continence Care pathway, Nurse Triage team, Phlebotomy and Specialist Parkinsons Disease Nurse Specialists. You will be a visible and credible clinical leader with high professional standards and your role will be pivotal in developing and facilitating high quality clinical care.

The successful candidate will have experience in managing teams in a community health setting, service improvement and achievement of performance targets. You will be responsible for ensuring staff are organised and coordinated in the best way to meet clinical demands and ensure improvements that are designed are supported to be delivered. You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will demonstrate a strong leadership style and an ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.

You will be joining a great management team who will offer you support and leadership to support your own development.

Main duties of the job

Manage an area and all associated resources to support the safe delivery of Out of Hospital services

Provide strong visible leadership within areas of responsibility

Ensure that all staff in the service area are clear about what is expected and are working together in successful multidisciplinary teams to achieve the Trust Vision

Promote a culture where staff feel empowered and accountable for service improvement at a local level

Ensure that Team Leads carry out appropriate supervision of their staff and all other management responsibilities, such as, ensuring staff development needs are being met, disciplinary matters are handled correctly and objectives, guidelines and procedures are followed.

To ensure that there are clear lines of accountability within area of responsibility.

Work alongside Clinical and Operational Leads to regularly review the service area workforce to ensure it has the right numbers of the right level of knowledge skill and expertise skill to deliver services in the most effective and efficient way

Support the delivery of service areas financial performance in line with the Trusts agreed financial plan and implement opportunities for cost improvement.

Promote a culture where governance and risk management are seen responsibility.

To work with Team Leads to ensure that safety is at the centre of service area planning, analysis and delivery.

Essential criteria

  • Professional knowledge acquired through degree supplemented by diploma level specialist training or equivalent
  • Relevant qualification or significant experience in clinical field
  • Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate and present complex information
  • Must be able to demonstrate an ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Strong understanding of national policy in relation to services
