PCSOs – Police Community Support Officers

We are proud to be working with Cambridgeshire Constabulary who are recruiting for PCSOs (Police Community Support Officers).

Police Community Support Officers are a vital part of the police family.

The role of a PCSO:

Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) play an absolutely vital role in offering a reassuring presence to the public. They also act as a visible deterrent to anti-social behaviour.

These uniformed officers are out and about in the community, operating regular foot patrols. Supporting the force at street level, they help free up valuable police time and resources. In doing so, they put a spotlight on lower-level crime, disorder, and anti-social behaviour.

They focus on reducing anti-social behaviour in their area, working with local residents to reduce the fear of crime to help make the county a safer place to live and work. They are a key part of the community they work within, building relationships with local residents and partner agencies such as local councils, charities and NHS.

They attend community events and Neighbourhood Watch meetings as well as paying visits to nearby schools and colleges to talk about the work they do, inspiring future generations away from a life of crime.

Most of all, they get to see the real impact of crime on people’s lives and the extraordinary power you have as an individual to make a real difference.

Police Community Support Officers are rightly proud of the amazing work they do.

Not only do they help increase public safety and maintain community confidence, but they make neighbourhoods better places to live and help young people make positive choices in their lives.

Being a Police Community Support Officer is both exciting and rewarding. It’s a paid role that calls for strong powers of observation, communication, judgment and problem-solving.

The role involves evening and weekend shift work, including working some weekends and evenings to 8pm, and you may be required to work at various locations across the county.

You must be able to perform extended foot patrol duties in all weathers, plus hearing and eyesight to meet Force standard (with or without correction).

We welcome applications for working on a part-time basis, however the hours requested will need to balance against operational requirements.

As well as comprehensive training and ongoing support, the force can also offer you…

  • Generous Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Access to the Blue Light Card Discount scheme
  • 24 days plus BH on starting, rising to 29 days plus BH’s with length of service (10 years)
  • Free access to force gyms
  • Sports and social clubs
  • Cycle to work scheme

There has never been a better time to join the Police to make a difference in your community.
