The Role:

Prepare and update of Electrical deliverables. The candidate will have particular experience in performing power system studies covering Load Flow, Fault Studies, Dynamic Simulations, Transient Stability Studies, Harmonics evaluation and inrush studies in the offshore wind and renewables sector. Capable of contributing to many areas as part of a small project team. Capable of originating documentation and working without supervision and with minimal external input. Incline to mentor and deliver within time and schedule. To supervise and train staff.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for electrical work scope in offshore wind or renewables projects with a focus on performance requirements tailored to meet the expectations of clients
  • Responsible for the associated suite of power system studies that are part of the renewables and energy sector as follows, but not limited to:

– Load Flow Studies

– Short Circuit Studies

– Dynamic Simulations

– Transient Stability Studies

– Transformer and/or Cable Energisation studies

– Harmonic Analysis Studies

  • Designing and specifying Reactive Power Compensation requirements and equipment
  • Working with grid connections and performing grid compliance evaluation
  • Leading the management of risks, program, budget, and quality
  • Accountable for the project controls that ensure timely delivery of the assigned deliverables against the project schedule, within budget and to the required level of quality
  • Reviewing vendor and subcontractor documentations and evaluate against company requirements or specifications and local standards
  • Managing changes in scope in a controlled manner, assess their impact on project scope, schedule, budget, and risks
  • Represent ODE with Clients on technical matters
  • Direct and lead other junior engineers and designers as required

  • Responsible for SHEQ activities
  • Leading by example to maintain a strong SHEQ culture through visible safety leadership
  • Ensure the implementation of adequate Health, Safety and Environmental work practices, procedures and methods to meet all statutory requirements and the Company SHEQ Management System

Competencies & Soft Skills:

Electrical engineer, with experience as an electrical engineer in the renewables industry for offshore projects. Candidate should have:

  • Extensive relevant work experience on technically complex and high-value High Voltage projects in offshore wind and renewables sector
  • HVDC experience will be a good advantage
  • Working knowledge of DIgSilent Power factory software is required.
  • Working knowledge of ETAP and other similar software is an added advantage
  • Very good leadership, communication, and negotiation skills with proven ability to work on complex technical projects and leading multidisciplinary and culturally varied teams
  • Current and demonstrable experience with power system studies
  • Good organizational skills and a structured working approach with an eye for details while at the same time keeping the large overview
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety
  • Delivery focused and committed to achieving project and company goals
  • Flexible and able to comply and adapt to company or client requirements
  • Ability to interact with management and personnel at all levels, a committed team player
  • Confident and able to work on own initiative

Qualifications/Experience:

Candidates must hold a minimum of Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering combined with 5+ years of professional experience in power systems and power engineering. Candidate must be registered with an Engineering Council or equivalent and preferably a Chartered Engineer.
