Job description

Client facing Assistant Manager role in the Accounting Advisory Services team. Provides specialist IFRS/UK GAAP accounting advice to large corporates and mid-market clients across a range of sectors with a focus on group reorganisation and structuring projects. Group reorganisation projects involve advising clients on the accounting impact of a restructuring project (including, but not limited to, the transfer of trade and assets and investments, distributions, rationalising intercompany balances, reducing legal entities etc.). The projects involve working with cross-functional teams, including Tax, Legal and Deal Advisory teams. We are seeking qualified accountants to continue to extend the depth and breadth of accounting based services, in the areas listed above and below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand business objectives from structuring steps and be able to identify basic issues from an accounting perspective on such steps.
  • Liaise with internal specialists, overseas member firms and external advisers, seen as the go-to person on the engagement.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with key client contacts and internal KPMG contacts.
  • Provide high quality ‘first draft’ deliverables without ‘basic’ errors.
  • Demonstrate continuous self-development.
  • Coaching and developing graduates.
  • Responsible for project management of all engagements, such as risk management, keeping track of costs and monitoring overruns in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations, thought leadership collateral and marketing material.
  • The role is primarily delivery focused reporting to managers and senior managers however may include leading teams of up to 4 people (depending upon the engagement nature).
  • Key Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Qualified accountant (Chartered Accountant or international equivalent).
  • Strong technical accounting experience with IFRS, UK GAAP and UK Companies Act.
  • Very good project management skills demonstrated by a record of project delivery.
  • Demonstrates accountability in resolving issues through independent research and appropriate consultation.
  • Display an inclusive, collaborative approach and operates in a respectful manner with colleagues, clients and the wider community.
  • Analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
