Capgemini Engineering are looking to recruit a number of both CAD Modellers/Draftsmen and Checkers of all experience levels with an engineering background. There are vacancies for both Modellers/Draughtsman and Checkers to join the Bristol team working in the offices and remotely. The roles will support various major Aerospace, Defence and Energy clients as part of new design and design modification work packages.
Your role
You will be a draftsman and/or checker working on very high profile projects. You will use creative problem-solving skills work in a team environment and be comfortable communicating clearly and efficiently throughout varying levels of both the customer and Capgemini Engineering businesses.
Other key responsibilities include:
3D modelling and 2D drafting using CAD packages
Working on gas turbine, naval marine and electromechanical components and assemblies (electrical engineering knowledge not required)
Detailed checking of models and drawings and applicability of manufacturing and quality specifications to design intent requirements (not all candidates will be required to perform checking activities)
Input of data in to a shared DMU
Producing, modifying and reviewing engineering drawings
Use Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Preparing explanatory presentations
Applying manufacturing and quality specifications and assigning notes
Identifying and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team
Liaising with design team and proposing new concepts and improvements
Your profile
A strong engineering background and/or relevant engineering degree
3D modelling and 2D drafting experience
Experience of checking CAD models and drawings (not all candidates will be required to perform checking activities)
Good experience with CAD packages, Siemens NX and Catia V5 preferred but not essential
Awareness of design of aero-engine systems and all associated components and/or awareness of design of electromechanical systems and associated components
High attention to detail
Knowledge of manufacturing processes
Proactive attitude and ability to communicate and report with a good level of verbal and written English
Ability to work well in a team and individually
Ability to work quickly and accurately to follow client needs
Trained and approved in checking drawings by a relevant industry standard e.g. approved by a major aerospace manufacturer would be beneficial but not essential
