Assistant Digital Engineer

Systra are currently seeking an Assistant Digital Engineer- 4D to join our growing engineering team. This is a great position with a rare opportunity to join a busy and flourishing team. Your responsibility will be to develop our capability to maximise 4D Planning techniques and support the Digital Engineering Team in 4D techniques and methodologies within a Rail Industry environment.

Systra support a hybrid working model, where colleagues have the opportunity to blend office based and home based working, we are committed to this model being a significant part of our future development. This role could be based from our York, Manchester, Birmingham or Reading offices.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist in the design of High Speed rail infrastructure, as well as being actively involved in exciting future projects such as light rail, metros and projects overseas. You will be joining a growing team of UK engineers delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaboration with Digital/BIM leads, planners and supply chain to ensure alignment and quality of 3D models and P6 plans
  • Building of standard libraries and appearances in Synchro to ensure consistent appearance of 4D animations
  • Working with the Digital Engineering Team to develop a detailed implementation plan to raise visibility and the use of 4D Planning tools
  • Working with the Digital Engineering Team to outline the future development and expansion of the use of Synchro in the wider business and TRUeast Alliance
  • Developing documentation required to support the implementation and progression of 4D Planning within the wider business.
  • Promoting the Digital Rehearsal process
  • Exploring the future development of 4D based Planning in the wider business
  • Act as support for delivering project specific 4D animations
  • Ensure 4D plans are developed to ensure safe practices are embedded
  • Presenting to a wide range of stakeholders including Site Teams, Suppliers and Clients
  • Transitioning from support for delivering 4D animations into a coaching and mentoring role as the capability grows within the wider business
  • Working closely with the BIM teams and Planners to ensure 3D models and P6 plans are adequately developed to facilitate optimal 4D modelling

    • Relevant Experience and Qualifications:

  • A clear and effective communicator
  • A competent user of SYMCHRO 4D Pro
  • Primavera P6 is desirable
  • Knowledge of ISO19650 IM methodologies & procedures desirable
  • Experience in using 3D modelling software (MicroStation CONNECT Edition /AutoCAD / Revit etc.)
  • Experience of working in Bentley ProjectWise Explorer CONNECT Edition
  • Knowledge and understanding of Construction and/or Rail Industry
  • Familiarity with other methods of visualisation; Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality
