  • We currently have a vacancy for a Project Officer to join our Delivery directorate working within the Transport Projects team focussing on project delivery.

    It is an exciting time to be joining the Mayoral Combined Authority. We have a wide variety of exciting projects that we are working on which will help shape the West Yorkshire region.

    In 2021 the £1.8bn devolution deal was secured for West Yorkshire. This meant the first Mayor of West Yorkshire was subsequently elected, with Tracy Brabin taking up post in May 2021. The devolution deal and election of the Mayor has enabled us to start to drive up living standards for local communities while tackling the climate emergency and helping to deliver our commitment to become a net zero carbon city region by 2038.

    The Role

    The Transport Projects Team, which is an integral part of the Delivery Directorate, has a diverse and wide-ranging portfolio. Recent projects delivered by the team include new Rail Stations; Bus Station Refurbishments; Rail Station Park and Ride Extensions and Office Refurbishments.

    This is an ideal development opportunity for someone looking to make the next step in their career and gain experience in working on projects alongside a supportive team.

    As a step towards becoming the project managers of the future, we will encourage you to undertake training subject to available places and funding, to help fast track your career.

    Reporting into the Project Manager, the key responsibilities are but not limited to:

  • Supporting the team in the delivery of complex projects and lead the delivery of work packages and initiatives.
  • Working together with your team to ensure targets are achieved.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment for your team, with a solid ethic of working towards achievement of our organisational vision.
  • Take a proactive approach to internal processes, contributing during meetings and interviews.
  • Utilise effective communication channels when working with others.
  • About you

    You will have the following key skills, attributes, education and experience:

  • Educated to a degree level or someone with equivalent practical experience of working in a similar role.
  • Experience of working in a project delivery environment and have excellent organisation skills.
  • Supporting the delivery of projects to time, scope and budget in a fast-paced business change environment.
  • They will be a confident communicator with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and drive progress on project delivery.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies such as PRINCE2 is preferred.
