Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Field Quality Engineer to join our Advanced Engineering Support team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and able to provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance, product testing and investigation, and metrics reporting for device and system health evaluation for the Ring Alarm and Ring Smart Lighting product families.

Key job responsibilities

  • Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues and consult with development teams when necessary.
  • Collect and analyze logs using tools such as Kibana, Tableau, and Splunk.
  • Deliver defect reports that include steps to reproduce, logs, clear description of actual results vs. expected, and a helpful title and summary.
  • Keep team members informed of critical issues and escalate concerns promptly and appropriately with limited guidance from your manager or team members.
  • Keep up-to-date with the Ring Alarm and Ring Smart Lighting products and new features.

  • You will provide advanced technical triage and troubleshooting assistance to customer service agents for Ring Alarm and Ring Smart Lighting devices.
  • You will troubleshoot issues and isolate bugs to assist engineers in root cause identification of problems
  • You will collaborate with internal teams to help prioritize opportunities for product improvement.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ year of experience working as a Field Quality Engineer (or position involving the testing or troubleshooting of systems or devices)
  • Experience working with DIY or other types of home security, home automation, or smart lighting products
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with Z-Wave, ZigBee, or other IoT RF protocols
  • Experience working with alarm systems and life safety devices
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, reporting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
