Summary of Senior EHS Technician role

Sterling Pharma Solutions currently have an opportunity for a Senior EHS Technician to join their EHS team based at our site in Cramlington.

Reporting directly to the EHS Manager, you will be responsible for supporting and improving EHS standards within New Product Introduction, Production, Projects, Development and Support Services across the site.

Responsibilities

  • Deputising for the EHS Manager.
  • Assisting in compliance with Safety and Environmental regulations including: COSHH, COMAH, DSEAR/ATEX, SED, EPR.
  • Assisting hazard identification and risk assessment processes.
  • Ownership of the industrial hygiene monitoring system and developing in conjunction with local teams appropriate industrial hygiene plan to understand exposures and health risks associated with chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic factors including but not limited to, noise, HAV’s, ergonomics, heat stress (hot and cold), lighting and indoor air quality.
  • Supporting environmental monitoring – ground water and air emissions.
  • Providing EHS support for the laboratory COSHH system.
  • Ownership and authorising relevant safety and environmental procedures and contribution to the creation/revision of other procedures as required.
  • Supporting the site safety training system to include contributing to the development and delivery of training and operational EHS issues, analysis, reports and driving KPIs.
  • Assisting in the Consider All Risk Events/Incidents/Accident reporting system to include participation and owning the incident investigation, analysis, reports and driving KPIs.
  • Inputting into site emergency response arrangements.
  • Assisting in the preparation and revision of key permitting/licence documentation.
  • Acting as the first port of call for operational safety and environmental matters onsite.
  • Involvement with the regulatory authorities such as EHS and EA.
  • Managing the radiation system onsite.
  • Participating on ISO and customer audits.

Requirements for the role

  • NEBOSH Certificate required, Diploma desirable.
  • Qualified in or have an understanding and appreciation of relevant Safety and Environmental legislation such as COSHH, COMAH, DSEAR, COMAH/ATEX, SED, EPR, MCERTS.
  • Previous experience in hygiene monitoring.
  • Leadership experience desirable.
  • Must be a team player and have the ability to influence at all levels, and to identify practical and proportionate solutions to challenging or complex issues.
  • Knowledge and experience of hazard identification and risk assessment.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision, having the confidence to understand your own limitations and ask for assistance.
