Within our Business Services Team, the Business Technology function (BizTech) provides IT services to over 2,800 users across 18 locations, predominantly in the UK, and is comprised of key functions including the following areas: Technology Change (including project management), Security & Governance, Architecture, and IT Service Delivery.

The Head of IT Architecture is a critical business role which will work with the project team, stakeholders, and technical subject matter experts to lead the strategic planning and delivery of technology systems and solutions that are aligned with the firm’s business strategy.

As the main technology oversight for new solutions, they will work with operations resources, and project delivery teams to identify and mitigate risks and issues to ensure that the target architecture is aligned to the firm’s technology roadmap.

Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, this role is key part of the BizTech management team will help shape the next stage of maturity as the function grows and develops. This includes developing a team and supporting key transformation projects such as our full migration to Cloud.

The architecture function is responsible for the design and operating model of new solutions across elements including application design, data, infrastructure, networking, and end points and needs to incorporate appropriate oversight to factors including performance, scale, resilience, security, and cost

In professional services there are a number of major applications used across the business and having clear, defined roadmaps for these IT services is fundamental to ensuring that our services are well maintained and continue to evolve to deliver business value. The architecture team are comprised of two direct reports, with one already recruited and one to be recruited, forming the architecture function

The role will include KPI and risk reporting to inform key stakeholders such as the Executive board, clients, internal audit and external regulators. They will ensure that high quality representation is provided including to internal and external auditors, including ISO27001.

Person Specification

· 5 years’ experience in architecture or similar roles with people leadership responsibility

· Experience implementing technical controls and management processes to support large organisation (2,000 users+)

· Proven experience implementing security technology improvement initiatives in areas such as ISO27001 accreditation.

· Bachelor’s or preferably Masters degree or equivalent in Information Technology or Architecture is desirable

· Membership or relevant industry bodies and accreditations including Microsoft certifications and TOGAF

· Familiarity with the following technologies:

o Microsoft core infrastructure components (Active directory, SCCM, DNS, DHCP).

o Microsoft application components (O365 including Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint, Azure)

o SD-WAN concepts and Cisco Meraki)

o Software deployment and endpoint management including Intune, AutoPilot, SCCM)

o Security and data loss prevention solutions including Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Advanced Threat Protection services, MimeCast, DarkTrace, ZScaler.

· Demonstrable IT leadership experience having defined and delivered complex strategy in areas such as future desktop, ERP proposals and future state including options analysis, and data strategy

· Track record of leading high performing teams, with examples of staff development and high levels of engagement.

· Results orientation: ability to set high goals for self and others, focusing on the delivery of targets, quality, and deadlines

· Communication skills: ability to communicate professional, concise, and accurate information in written and verbal formats. Management of key internal and external stakeholders. Creativity & innovation: willingness to challenge assumptions and find new solutions working with colleagues

· Listening and learning: able to work well with others to learn skills to develop their knowledge

· Experience in supporting successful implementation of design through engagement in project delivery and ensuring successful transition to support

· Relationship building: ability to build and maintain networks of business contacts in and beyond the organisation who may contribute to success

· Promote the Firm’s values and beliefs, demonstrate integrity and maintain an ethical stance and show flexibility and commitment

· This role requires flexibility including some evening or weekend work where required to support project activity as well as visiting office locations as required or requested
