SYSTRA  are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as Trans-Pennine Upgrade and HS2, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.

We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our Engineering team in our Birmingham office, initially working as part of our Main Works Civils High Speed 2 project team, by recruiting an experienced Environmental Coordinator.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of experience within the Civil Engineering/Transportation/Infrastructure sectors.

Main Duties of the role:

  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary environmental inputs for a major development project
  • Programming of assessments, further site surveys, watching briefs and organising specialist assessments as and when required for renewals and improvement schemes and studies. Ensuring tasks are correctly priced and seeing through delivery on time and to budget.
  • Maintaining and constantly improving the environmental assessment procedure to increase effective information transfer throughout the schemes delivery process.
  • Identification of environmental issues relating to schemes + conception and implementation of appropriate mitigation.
  • Manage and coordinate preparation of EIA screening and scoping activities, Environmental Statements including the technical review of specialist chapters
  • Liaise with clients, internal and external supply teams
  • Work in partnership with other members of the Environmental Team, delegating activities to staff as applicable
  • Work with design teams to ensure that environmental considerations are being considered.
  • Coordinating resources and reporting across multiple locations.
  • Input into design/optioneering, assessment, consenting and approvals during construction and delivery of projects.
  • Required Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in a relevant environmental subject
  • ECI Contract experience on infrastructure projects would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working for private and public-sector developers and operators, on a range of development / infrastructure project consents.
  • An appreciation of a range of technical environmental matters.
  • Experience in developing scope of work for environmental studies.
  • A collaborative nature, demonstrating strong relationships with partner companies in the supply chain.
  • knowledge and experience of the UK planning system and consents processes.
  • Experience of assembling Environmental Statements and reviewing specialist inputs.
  • Practical experience of working on all stages of Environmental Impact Assessment.
