What does the role involve? We are looking for an Associate (NQ) to join the Insurance Disputes team based in our Norwich office. You will provide a range of insurance and financial claims advice, insurance coverage advice, and potentially broader commercial disputes advice. This will require experience (gained during training) of court and dispute resolution process and strategy. You will have excellent team working skills.Areas of work are professional indemnity, financial disputes, casualty and coverage on primary and excess layers. Our client base includes indemnity insurers, insureds and insurers and financial service providers. What experience is required? You will be an NQ+ years PQE with insurance or disputes experience gained in private practice at a large regional or City law firm or in-house for a global insurer or MGA. What skills and attributes would I need?

  • It is essential that you have good academics and excellent written English, numeracy, and IT literacy skills. 
  • You will need good negotiating and lateral thinking and problem solving skills, as well as excellent communication. 
  • You will be a proactive team player and have great flexibility to work with team members. 
  • You will have effective time and matter management and have a systematic approach to work.
  • Who would I be working with? You will work with partner Neil Davies and the wider Insurance Disputes partner group. The team is part of the firm-wide Insurance Disputes NSL, which is headed up by Niall Innes, and supported by a professional support lawyer. You will also work with other partners in the Insurance Disputes NSL on specific projects or as part of a wider client service team. Disclosure and barring service check and security clearance This post is also subject to a satisfactory response from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) (to check for any previous criminal convictions) and, given the nature of the work-type, you may also be required to undergo national security vetting to SC level ¿ the latter can be undertaken following commencement of employment.
