We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Senior Research Technician to provide experimental support and training to researchers within the Milner’s Centre for Pathway Analysis (CPA).

The Milner Therapeutics Institute (MTI) is a purpose-built research Institute at the University of Cambridge, located on the Cambridge Biomedical Research Campus, within the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre built in 2019. The overarching vision of the MTI is to harness academic excellence to accelerate the drug development process and convert pioneering science into novel therapies. The Institute provides a unique working environment, with start-ups, academics and pharma companies working side by side at the bench. Working across multiple therapeutic areas, it has one of the largest concentrations of expertise in functional genomics at the University, with access to a breadth of expertise in technical development and screening across academia and industry.

Based in the growing experimental group of the CPA, you will play a central role providing highly technical support to the team, ensuring the smooth running of the laboratory and providing essential cell culture maintenance support. In addition to experimental support, this role will involve the management of laboratory consumable budgets, will oversee laboratory documentation and databases and ensure safe and efficient working practices are maintained within the laboratory. The role will also support the appointed biological safety officer with all matters relating to Biological Safety.

This exciting new role will join our growing and strategic team facilitating and supporting cutting edge research. The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level/level 6 vocational qualification or have the equivalent level of practical experience. They will have practical experience of specialist laboratory activities and equipment, and demonstrate a high degree of precision and accuracy. Knowledge in a biological/chemistry related subject is required, with specialist knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations desirable. Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
