Clinical Fellow (Registrar level) in Paediatrics and Neonates:

Applications are invited for a paediatric/neonatal registrar post, ASAP at the Newham University Hospital in the North East of London, England. These posts are initially for 12 months and then to be extended further.

The post will be based at Newham University Hospital which provides acute general paediatrics and neonatal (level II) service to one of Britain’s most diverse, fastest growing and youngest populations.

Main duties of the job

Paediatric department has 21 bedded Paediatrics ward includes 7 cubicles, two bedded well equipped HDU unit. Also 6 bedded day care ward for minor day surgery for children over 3 years of age. Department also have 6 bedded observational unit.

Neonatal unit is level II, caring for babies born more than 27 weeks and has close working relation with network tertiary unit which is Royal London Hospital. Unit has 23 beds including 2 intensive , 4 HDU care beds.

Department enjoys separate neonatal and Paediatrics middle grade and SHO cover, also has separate consultant cover from 8.30 till 1900 hours Monday to Friday and separate cover at, out of hours and over the weekend and bank holidays. Rota is fully complying with EWTD and doctors will not do more than 48 hours duty in a week.

This is a Trust Clinical Fellow post suitable for doctors who wish to pursue a career in Paediatrics and in neonatal care. Post holder will have opportunity of working with neonatal transport services at Royal London Hospital following year. Trust is committed to supporting the post holder in developing a career in Paediatrics. This post is full time fixed term appointment for 6 months and is trust grade .

Department enjoys separate neonatal and paediatric consultant, middle grade and SHO cover round the clock.

Individuals will require full GMC Registration and it is desirable to hold MRCPCH or equivalent.

The successful applicant would join a full shift middle grade rota.
