The purpose of the role is to co-ordinate & support a dynamic team in day to day ramp services, based airside at London Gatwick Airport. Your duties will include the supervision of the allocated Ramp team airside and safe Push back of Aircraft to ensure a safe and on time turnaround of the aircraft. You will be responsible for ensuring the Menzies product is delivered safely and consistently in line with service level standards set for both on time and station performance and baggage arrivals.

Main accountabilities include

  • Ensure yourself and all staff are delivering the highest possible level of customer service at all times.
  • Ensuring you and all staff members fully comply with the Health and Safety at work act 1974 when carrying out duties.
  • Undertake required Airside skills training deemed suitable for your role including but not limited to SAL training, Pushback, Headset, Marshalling, Hi Loader, Towing etc.
  • Responsible for a safe, secure and correct turnaround of aircraft.
  • Ensuring whilst operating and others are operating Ground service equipment that it is in a safe and correct manner as in compliance with Menzies and GAL operating procedures.
  • To ensure that all aircraft are checked on arrival for any damage before the commencement of the turnaround and that any damage found to be reported to Managers/Allocators, TCO, Captain or First Officer.
  • To ensure that the loading of aircraft is in accordance with the load sheet. Ensuring all correct baggage has been loaded and made accountable for, for that destination on the aircraft (Count Bags Loaded).
  • To process and manoeuvre baggage within the airport buildings and property, using baggage systems or any other method deemed necessary.
  • To use manual and mechanical handling for the loading and unloading of baggage to and from aircraft and to and from baggage moving systems as designated by the company or airport authority.
  • Responsible for the safe pushback of Aircraft in line with the company procedures.
  • To report any incidents/accidents with staff, equipment or aircraft immediately to Airport operations, accountable Managers/Allocators, TCO, Captain or First Officer.
  • You are required to be responsible for yourself and your staff to monitor the wearing of your company uniform ensuring no other items than that solely given by Menzies is to be worn or displayed outside other items of company clothing.
  • You are to ensure that you and Airside Agents are wearing the Personal Protective items at all times whilst working in the designated working areas.
  • Ensuring GAL & Menzies normal operating procedures and processes are effectively implemented and comply with directives as set by the DFT & CAA
  • To ensure that you have briefed your Team and that they have read, understood and signed off the latest local operating procedures and instructions.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Menzies product is delivered consistently to demanding service level standards and on time performance targets to our customers and the airline.
  • Continuous communication with the Allocator/ Duty Manager and TCO on all turn rounds via PDA & radio (i.e. radio down when job is completed)
  • Ensure that all vehicles that you and your team are using have had a pre inspection check and that there is no FOD in the vehicle.
  • Ensure you and your team assist front of house and TCO in the safe and correct control of passengers on the ramp once loading of A/C is completed.
  • Maximize utilization of staff through forward planning, allocation of duties and staff productivity
  • To ensure that all aircraft holds are checked and cleared of all baggage on inbound aircraft.(Nothing left in the holds)
  • To ensure the Full compliance and implementation at all times of the following:
  • Airline Handling Manual
  • Airports Disruption Management Policy
  • Ground Handling Manual
  • Any other ad hoc duties as reasonably requested by Airside/ Station management team.
  • Safety, Security and Compliance

  • Carry out work in accordance with information and training provided and any specific workplace health and safety rules or procedures.
  • Fully understand the company health and safety policy.
  • Attend training courses as may be arranged by the Company.
  • Engage with MORSE and follow our code principles.
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have experience working within BOH department
  • Well organised with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, able to work on their own initiative to specific deadlines, have the ability to recognise and deal with challenges promptly and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead team.
  • Ability to work within a pressured environment.
  • Must be flexible to adapt to changing demands/circumstances.
