Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen with the Renal service at Morriston Hospital for a Renal OPD Receptionist/Clerical Officer. 

The successful candidate will work alongside the renal OPD team and medical secretaries to ensure a smooth, efficient clerical and admin process.

The successful post holder will maintain a direct and close working relationship with the Medical Secretaries, Consultants and Medical staff as well as other staff within the Department.

The role will work within standard administrative procedures with someone generally available for reference.

This is a flexible and dynamic role, which requires the post holder to provide dedicated administrative support to sustain core operation services to both Renal OPD and the Medical Secretaries.

  • RSA 2 Text/Word processing or equivalent
  • Good standard of education
  • Desirable criteria

  • Formal qualification in Maths and English
  • Experience

  • Previous office experience
  • Use of IT systems
  • Dealing with enquiries and follow up action
  • Computer literate with experience of typing/data entry

  • Working knowledge of hospital or health care work

  • Effective communication skills – verbal and written
  • Ability to deal with patients/visitors face-to-face and via telephone
  • Good telephone manner
  • Ability to display empathy and sensitivity towards others

  • Knowledge of hospital WPAS system
  • Able to undertake several tasks at the same time whilst maintaining a high standard of work
