This is an exciting opportunity to join Services for Children, Young People and Families in our statutory Children and Families social work teams. We are recruiting for a full-time Senior Social Care Officer post on a fixed-term temporary contract until the end of March 2023 to provide a range of supports to Ukrainian refugee families and children fleeing war.

This is an opportunity to work with colleagues in housing, communities, community safety, education, health and the third sector to identify, develop and provide the needed supports for the Ukrainian families. This role is also to ensure Perth and Kinross is compliant with the Scottish Government Safeguarding Policy.

The Individual

You must have a good understanding of child development and attachment theory, have knowledge of relevant legislation, processes and procedures and issues relating to the children and families.

You must be able to communicate effectively with children and families in a warm, patient and empathetic manner, recognising that all families experience difficulties at times. Being approachable, reliable and trustworthy in your work with families is essential to making positive change to children, young people and families. This will be particularly important when supporting refugees who have experienced trauma and loss.

You should be an organised person who can manage their workload around fixed commitments and prioritise competing demands.

You should be able to use computers to a good standard, such as completing entries into our web based recording system, managing an electronic diary system and typing up assessments, forms and short reports.

You should be able to work with a variety of partners across Perth and Kinross to promote and support the needs of the Ukrainian refugees moving into our area

Candidates will need to promote positive values and anti-discriminatory, non-judgmental practice and treat colleagues and customers with dignity and respect in line with the Employee Code of Conduct and SSSC Codes of Conduct.

You must have an SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children & Young People) or equivalent.
