The laboratory of Professor Susan Ozanne () is seeking a part time senior research technician. Our main research interest is in understanding how obesity and impaired glucose tolerance during pregnancy impacts on offspring cardio-metabolic health. We are particularly interested in establishing intervention strategies in the mother that improve both maternal and offspring cardiovascular and metabolic health. Supported by the British Heart Foundation, this post will provide technical and lab managerial support to a study addressing the effects of interventions that are used to treat gestational diabetes.

Key responsibilities: Applicants should have a background in working in labs carrying out physiological and molecular studies and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Perform cell culture, immunoassays, western blotting, RT-PCR and other techniques according to the direction of the project
  • Assist with rodent colony management
  • Train new members of the laboratory in laboratory procedures and routine experimental techniques
  • Maintain and update laboratory records (including safety documentation and freezer inventories)
  • Assist other members of the research team to carry out rodent cardiometabolic phenotyping
