About the Flood Risk & Drainage team

Operating from London, Redhill, Birmingham, Manchester, and Perth, our Flood Risk & Drainage team has helped clients successfully deliver high-profile estate regeneration projects, mixed-use urban developments, strategic land schemes, tall buildings, industrial & logistics facilities, rail, river enhancement and flood alleviation schemes across the UK.

We have a vacancy for an experienced Flood Risk Consultant. The core role is to produce FRAs for development projects in accordance with the NPPF, including outline drainage/SuDS strategies. We also provide due diligence flood risk advice to landowners and undertake flood studies in the public sector.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Acting as author of Flood Risk Assessments for a broad mix of private sector development and public sector flood risk management schemes
  • Formulation of conceptual surface water drainage strategies incorporating SuDS and associated hydraulic calculations
  • Attending meetings with clients, design teams, local authorities and statutory and non-statutory consultees
  • Person Specification:

  • Educated to at least degree level in an engineering, geography or environmental science related subject
  • A minimum of one year of relevant consultancy experience
  • Demonstrable track record in delivering proportionate Flood Risk Assessments and advice on development sites in the UK
  • Graduate Membership of a relevant professional body, such as CIWEM or ICE
  • Key Skills:

  • Working knowledge of the UK Flood Risk Planning Policy and Guidance, SuDS Guidance and the broader planning system
  • Problem solver and solution finder
  • A keen eye for detail
  • Excellent report writing and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MicroDrainage, GIS, AutoCAD and Civil 3D desirable but not essential
