There’s no more exciting time to be thinking about joining Womble Bond Dickinson than now. We’ve made no secret of the fact that we’re ambitious and our move to become a transatlantic firm is just further evidence of that. For our people this makes for a really exciting future, one in which everyone has a role to play in furthering our ambitions whilst enjoying challenging and fulfilling careers. And the dynamic nature of the legal sector is just one challenge that we need to respond to as a business to ensure that our clients get the best possible service from us and our business continues to be sustainable.

One of the ways in which we’re responding to the market is through continued investment in WBD Advance and our Legal Solutions Centre; a team of solicitors, chartered legal executives, paralegals, management information specialists and legal project managers, capable of providing support to the wider business on a regular and ongoing basis, for high volume projects or secondment opportunities, and providing some services directly to clients.

We’ve a team of highly motivated and high performing paralegals, but to ensure they continue to deliver we’ve put in place a team of qualified lawyers to provide technical supervision and training to the various paralegal teams. Having already recruited into a number of areas, we’re now looking to strengthen the team with an additional Commercial Lawyer.

So what are we looking for?

We’re looking for a commercial lawyer, technically strong, either with a background in general commercial work or with previous experience from any specialist commercial area such as banking, data, financial services.

You’ll be working with WBD Advance, the Legal Solutions Centre and the wider Commercial team to transform and optimise legal processes and contribute to commercial projects. Experience of legal technology platforms may be useful but is by no means essential. You’ll will also have opportunities to lead and be the principal client contact on matters but as most of your role will be working within a multi-disciplinary team on a range of projects, you will need to be a strong team player.

You may already have experience of supervising staff and developing talent, but what’s more important to us is your ability to breakdown complicated concepts and convey them in an easy to digest format. You’ll work closely with the Legal Solutions Centre Director and other senior lawyers in the team to continue to build a credible and high performing team of paralegals, with the flexibility to respond to the changing needs of our clients, our business and our profession, driving growth in the team and, as a consequence, revenue for the business. You’ll be a key part of promoting WBD Advance both internally and externally and will need good attention to detail and financial acumen to deal with bespoke pricing models.

This is a unique opportunity for you to combine your technical expertise with your natural flair for people development in supportive and collegiate environment. But don’t worry, your own personal development won’t take a backseat. Our amazing Learning and Development team have created a fantastic development programme which will help support you in this role by enhancing your business and leadership capabilities.
